The Story of Firefly Wishes

A story of faith, family, and following where God leads

I grew up with big dreams and a dad who believed in me more than I believed in myself.

After college I landed a marketing job at a big corporation — they even paid for my MBA. My dad, always my biggest cheerleader, suggested I start my own business with my brother Mike and offered to be our first investor. I laughed it off. I just didn't trust myself enough yet.

He passed away in 2001, unexpectedly, just a few months before my wedding day. I never got to tell him he was right.

Fast forward to 2016. The Cubs won the World Series — and I made personalized ornaments for our family to celebrate at Thanksgiving. My aunt loved them so much she asked to buy more for her friends. I posted them on Facebook. People started asking to buy them. My husband Jeff looked at me and said, "You should start a business." And just like that, I heard my dad's voice again.

This time I didn't laugh.

Firefly Wishes launched in February 2017. My brother Mike joined me — exactly as Dad had suggested all those years ago. Looking back, I can see it so clearly now: I wasn't just following a dream. I was abandoning myself to God's Providence, and He gave me everything I needed exactly when I was ready for it.

Eight years later, we're still here — handcrafting gifts from our studio in Crystal Lake, Illinois, one order at a time. Every ornament, every towel, every engraved keepsake that leaves our studio carries something of that story with it. We make things for the moments that matter, because we know better than most that moments don't last forever.

My dad's parents — his mother and father, Herb and Dot — lived simply and faithfully. The things around them carried the weight of a life well-lived. I've been thinking about them a lot lately, and about how the objects we keep become small witnesses to the lives we're living. Their names are starting to show up in my work. It feels right.

Thank you for being here.

God bless,
Amy

Every gift we make carries a little piece of this story — the faith, the family, the belief that the moments we share are worth marking and remembering.

This is exactly where God led us. We hope you find exactly what you're looking for.
